SLFA President begs journalists.

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Madam Isha Johansen in a press conference held at Home Suite Hotel in Aberdeen Freetown pled on journalists to help rebrand the Sierra Leone Football Association image. She said a lot of problems the association had had in the past is all down to misunderstanding and that is one thing that is stagnant and common even for the love of the game.  "During matches, we all put our difference aside and go watch matches it because we love the game" said Madam Johansen.   The SLFA president revealed that during the last two days, they had lots of soul-searching with the UEFA assist team. They   as the executive committee had a very intensive discussion on where they think the Sierra Leone Football Association went wrong. "Kamboi Eagles will miss my presence"; Coach Alhaji Foray

The head coach of Kenema's Kamboi Eagles football club, Alhaji Foray (Abedi) has disclosed to SL-Premier 90 on Radio Mercury that Kamboi Eagles will miss his presence during the match against East End Lions in Kenema. He will miss the tight  encounter due to international assignment.  The Kamboi Eagles coach also served as the head coach of Sierra Leone’s under-20 female team.  Coach Abedi would not be available for Kamboi Eagles crunch fixture against East End Lions as he engages Senegal in the return leg of the FIFA under-20 world cup qualifying game in Senegal. Suffian, who was playing his football in the Sierra Leone Premier League for big money spenders Bo Rangers depart  Freetown international airport with his agent Chernor Musa Jalloh on Tuesday 28, January 2020.  According to AIK Solna,   Suffian "have been given to them to watch the player a little longer than normal and they think that's good considering his young age and he has never been to Europe before". Internews Selects Ten Journalists

Internews that specializes in Media Trainings has selected ten  journalists through their fellowship program to work on various stories ideas outside the capital City of Freetown.   It could be recalled that on January 15th, 2020, Internews sent out a communique calling on interested journalist to apply for their fellowship program. Out of the hundreds that applied, ten  were selected on January 25th, 2020, at Country Lodge in Freetown. The selection was done based on the stories and ideas submitted in a fair and transparent manner according to the Selection Committee.  Speaking on behalf of the Management Team of InterNews, Manager Arwen Kidd opined that they're excited to bring back the fellowship program for journalists which she said will serve as a platform for quality news reporting on wide range of issues including pre and post elections reports. "National Division One League Play-offs put on hold because of court case"

By Muctar Koroma The Head of Media and Marketing at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Ibrahim Kamara has disclosed that their decision to put on hold the National Division One League Playoffs was due to an ongoing legal issue in which an injunction was slammed by the High Court of Sierra Leone. He reckoned that after some consultation with their legal team, they were advised not to proceed with the playoffs until the matter is settle in or out of court.  Mr. Ibrahim revealed that issues of marginalization by some sections of the football fraternity was resolved in the last FA Congress held in Port Loko. Kamboi Eagles go 5 points clear at the top of the Sierra Leone Premier League

  By Muctar Koroma Kamboi Eagles Football club of Kenema have moved 5 points clear at the top of the League after defeating Old Edwardians in their backyard by one goal to zero.  Kamboi Eagles who have played six games are comfortably leading the league standing with sixteen points(16) after 5 wins and 1 draw.  The League leaders defeated Old Edwardians by one goal to zero at the Siaka Stevens Stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Ron Gardin William in the 80th minute of play.  The Eagles have won all their away matches played in Freetown.  Kamboi Eagles have widened the gap in the standings after the Bo Rangers vs FC. Kallon match ended in a 1 all draw and defending League champions,  East End Lions faced a shocking defeat in the hands of Anti-Drugs FC.  Kamboi Eagles have won six man of the match awards. University of Ghana test their VAR

The University Ghana has tested their newly acquired video assistant (VAR) referee cameras in a match between university of Ghana and UMAT.   Football made in Ghana Editor, Tophic Abdul Kadri  Sienu,  posted on his Facebook wall; "five cameras plus a drone were used to cover the match. That was the first time Ghana football  used the VAR in a match". Mr, Abdul said many  will agree that the University of Ghana has raised the bar for media coverage of the Game. Abdul ended up by saying that; "you could have mistaken them for a FIFA VAR Team."  This is the first time a West African Country reported the introduction of VAR in a match. Ghana's university of  technology has set the bar high for other Countries in the West Africa region's.

Freetown City Football Club is not for sale

The Head of Media for Freetown City Council Football Club (FCFC) Abdullah Bundu, has on behalf of the Management of the Club disclosed that there are long term plans to help the club's progress and development and thus, there is no intention in selling the club in the immediate future.  Bundu’s comment follows speculation that the club is on the verge of a takeover from an unnamed buyer. He further stated that, based on what he has seen in club's progress so far, he believed they’re in for the long-term. Diamond Stars secure second win

By Muctar Koroma. Diamond stars Football Club has secured their second win in the ongoing Salone Premier League against Old Edwardian Football Club. The match played at Koidu City,  Kono District Eastern Sierra Leone.  Goals were scored in the 60th and 88th minutes of the match by Ibrahim Morsay. The goals scorer Ibrahim Morsay was a substitute player in the first half of play replacing an injured player. This is Diamond stars fifth match and have won two, drew two and lost one. Diamond Stars has moved fifth in the  league standings with eight points.  The defeat from Diamond stars is the second loss for Old Edwardians after five matches played.  Diamond stars are three time champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League.  Their next fixture will be an  away match against Freetown City Council.   This is Diamond star's second win at their backyard. Former East End Lions player 'Twin' shines in Spain

Former player of league champions  East End Lions, Alhassan Koroma was the star player for his Spanish club Real Balompedica Linense as he scored the only goal in  Real Balompedica 1-0 win over Villarrobledo. Alhassan Koroma, scored the match winning goal in 86 Minutes of playing times. Real Balompedica, posted on their Facebook page saying "this team only know work, and more work". The Facebook post went further  congratulating  the  players for going three matches  winning.   Linense are seventh in group 4 tables after 19 games played with 28 points. This is  the EE Lions former player second goal in three matches. CAF appoints Sierra Leonean safety and security officer

By Muctar Koroma The confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed Mohamed Bowen Freeman as the Chief safety and security officer for Sierra Leone.  His appointment came after weeks of training in CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.  Out of fifty-Four countries in Africa, eighteen people were selected to serve in the committee.  Speaking to this writer, Mohamed Bowen Freeman said he is the first Sierra Leonean to be appointed as CAF Safety and Security Officer. He said his first assignment as Safety and Security Officer was in Mauritania in a confederation cup match. He disclosed that his appointment has been received by the football fraternity as a good news for the development of the game in Sierra Leone. Pouring out his excitement in an interviewed, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thunder FC. Mohamed Didi Abu said he felt good knowing that his club has been officially allowed to be a part of the North-West Region football family. Johansen Abdulia Kaloga Bah has disclosed that the club's management is thrilled to be back in the Sierra Leone premier league.  It could be recalled that the management of FC. Johansen refused to participate in 2018/2019 Sierra Leone Premier league citing irregularity in the setting up of the past Premier League Board.  Coach Kaloga said he’s impressed with the performance of his team despite results haven’t been forth coming.
