"National Division One League Play-offs put on hold because of court case"
By Muctar Koroma
The Head of Media and Marketing at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Ibrahim Kamara has disclosed that their decision to put on hold the National Division One League Playoffs was due to an ongoing legal issue in which an injunction was slammed by the High Court of Sierra Leone. He reckoned that after some consultation with their legal team, they were advised not to proceed with the playoffs until the matter is settle in or out of court.
Mr. Ibrahim revealed that issues of marginalization by some sections of the football fraternity was resolved in the last FA Congress held in Port Loko. He continued that the FA's Stakeholders agreed in the last congress for the increase in the participating clubs from two that was proposed by the FA executive committee to four teams which was voted for by the members in the congress.
It could be recalled that some members of the Sierra Leone Football Association took the association to court seeking an injunction to Northern Region Football Association Playoff.
Ibrahim Kamara reiterate that they'll only summon the playoff when football members remove the case from court. He said any action by the football association to hold playoff without the case being remove from court is tantamount to contempt of court.
When asked if they have informed the members about the ramifications of the court injunction on the playoffs, the SLFA’s Media man lamented that those who took the football association and some member of Executive Committee to court because they felt aggrieved, should be the ones informing the court of an out-of-court resolution with the football association.
