CAF appoints Sierra Leonean safety and security officer

The confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has appointed Mohamed Bowen Freeman as the Chief safety and security officer for Sierra Leone.
His appointment came after weeks of training in CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. Out of fifty-Four countries in Africa, eighteen people were selected to serve in the committee.
Speaking to this writer, Mohamed Bowen Freeman said he is the first Sierra Leonean to be appointed as CAF Safety and Security Officer. He said his first assignment as Safety and Security Officer was in Mauritania in a confederation cup match. He disclosed that his appointment has been received by the football fraternity as a good news for the development of the game in Sierra Leone.
“I’m excited to serve in this capacity and represent Sierra Leone in the best manner I can. I want all football lovers to support the plan I’ll design for the good of our football” said Freeman.
In explaining the role of safety and security officer. Freeman disclosed that his work as a safety officer is to make sure all those using football stadiums during matches are safe and adhere to the rules and regulations. CAF is working to ensure that football venues are safe across Africa.
He revealed that CAF introduced the safety and security body as way to tackle the poor management of Africa stadium. The introduction of Steward in the ongoing Sierra Leone premier league is part of the work of the safety and security department at the Sierra Leone football Association.
Mohamed Bowen Freeman is the Referees’ Manager at the Sierra Leone Football Association. He was senior referee at the Sierra Leone Referees Associations. Officiating in confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champion league and confederation cup across Africa. Mohamed Freeman attained the level of FIFA Referee for seven years before announcing his retirement as center man.
