I DON'T LIKE MOTIVATIONALS

Image
Muctar Koroma  They are often  as tasteless as cliches. That  one size fits all presumptuousness. I don't read motivational books. Life doesn't lend itself to generic prescriptions.  But sometimes I look into my life and bring up something.  Something I think worked a little magic with me. You  can defeat money and its seductiveness that breeds eternal competition.  Money is vulnerable  You defeat money by giving out more than you accumulate or store. Imagine a young  man Mamadi who makes 30 million and uses it to build a motherless babies home.  He tells no one he did it. He quietly hands it over to an existing charity. He has no house. He has built no house of his own. Mamadi lives in a rented apartment.  Months after a friend invites him for housewarming. Friends gather. His friend is being congratulated. Other friends are praising his friend and mocking all others who havent built a house. Beneath the congratulations...

THERE IS NO RAT TO RACE

You are on your own unique journey,  on a unique life  path,  in a unique set of life circumstances.  No one has same set of life cards. There is nothing to compare and no one actually to compare with. You will soon be gone. So  try and create the best possible life experience for yourself and enjoy it. Embrace moderation. It helps you to breathe, and helps  you to rise when you fall Understand the big picture and you will envy no man. The worst life is that lived to impress others. But dont be a loafer.  Set realistic life goals..and go after them thoughtfully and happily,  like a good sportsman. Transient anger is good. Bitterness is poison.  But always  remember the bigger picture Those who have died have only gone ahead.  Seek long life,  but know .... "It's no mean happiness to be seated in the mean" - Shakespeare  Those who will  live the longest will have to  bury all their classmates,  al...
