Head Coach of Sierra Leone's under-17 female team has expressed doubt over his team's ability to win the WAFU female competition which will be hosted in Sierra Leone.

In readiness for the WAFU competition to be hosted in Sierra Leone in November this year, the Female U-17 team has started intensive training at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy pitch. Speaking to Airadio sports show, the head coach of the female U-17 team Abdulia Kaloga Bah said that he has been in consultation with other coaches nationwide as a way of searching for female youth players. He said the technical team is doing all it could to prepare the current players but the girls have been finding it difficult to adapt. “One of the challenges we are facing with the girls is their level of understanding and role in the pitch of play. SIERRA LEONE REFEREE IN BRIBERY SCANDAL

In a documentary done by Ghanaian investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas several FIFA and confederation of Africa football (CAF) referees have been implicated for taking cash before officiating football matches in Africa. In a list released by tigereye fifteen (15) referees are named in the bribery  scandal. Among the fifteen names, FIFA accredited referee, Sierra Leone's Billy Konneh has been mentioned for collecting five hundred dollars (500 $) from fake football agents to officiate in favor of their team in the 2017 West Africa football Union (WAFU) tournament in Ghana. Billy Konneh was a certified FIFA and CAF  assistant referee who participated in the 2017 WAFU tournament and several CAF champion league matches. Billy Konneh is a renown former FIFA assistant referee in Sierra Leone who retired from refereeing in 2017. Referee Konneh hails from the southern city of Bo Sierra Leone. TM Christian Dauda was appointed as Leone stars team manager in 2017. AHEAD OF AFRICA SWIMMING COMPETITION IN ALGERIA, SIERRA LEONE SWIMMING DIVING AND WATER POLO ASSOCIATION CALLS FOR SUPPORT

It could be recalled that the Sierra Leone swimming association took part in the just concluded junior swimming competition in Algeria wherein Joshua wyse qualified for the Junior Olympic tournament in Argentina. Speaking to this medium the general secretary of the Sierra Leone Swimming association Mohamed Turay said they had started training for a very longtime as part of their early preparation to represent the country. He said they at the swimming association believe in the adage which says proper planning prevents poor performance and that they were only challenged with finances. “As an association we can only take care of providing air tickets for two participant but challenged on the issue of accommodation and per-day-em for the swimmers and officials”. In the government weekly press briefing at Youi Building the minister of sports Ibrahim Nyelekeh Koroma has confirmed that  thirty-nine  delegate of Leone Star’s players, technical team, ministry of sports official and Sierra Leone football association official would leave Freetown, Sierra Leone for Ethiopia on Monday 3rd September 2018 to play the ‘Waliyas Antelpoes’ of Ethiopia on September 9 2018.  According to the minister of sports due to poor preparation, late flight tickets and allowances for players those are the issues responsible for Leone Star poor performance in football competition but said under the new direction of President Bio it’s a different mentality. all necessary issues had been address to get the best out of the players and stay focus to win the game against Ethiopia.
