Head Coach of Sierra Leone's under-17 female team has expressed doubt over his team's ability to win the WAFU female competition which will be hosted in Sierra Leone.
In readiness for the WAFU competition to be hosted in Sierra Leone in November this year, the Female U-17 team has started intensive training at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy pitch.
Speaking to Airadio sports show, the head coach of the female U-17 team Abdulia Kaloga Bah said that he has been in consultation with other coaches nationwide as a way of searching for female youth players.
He said the technical team is doing all it could to prepare the current players but the girls have been finding it difficult to adapt.
“One of the challenges we are facing with the girls is their level of understanding and role in the pitch of play. I will attribute these challenges to the lack of effective football competitions in the country in recent times”
Coach Bah said they are currently working on the girl's stamina and strength as the date for the WAFU female competition draws closer.
“We will do all we can to give our best in preparing the girls for the tournament” emphasised coach Bah.
Coach Kaloga Bah further said he will not assure the public that they will win the WAFU tournament but they are going to play beautiful football and represent Sierra Leone well.
Coach Abdulia Kaloga Bah is a renowned coach in Sierra Leone, he was the former coach of the U-20 female team and coach of elite premier league clubs like Real Republicans, Central Parade, East End Lions, Marampa Stars and now coach of FC Johansen- the team of the president of the Sierra Leone Football Association.
In August 16 this year, the General Secretary of the West Africa football union Mr. Jammeh E. K. Bojang declared Sierra Leone fit to host the upcoming WAFU U-17 female tournament in November. The tournament would last for one week across Sierra Leone.
Eight countries are expected to participate in this year’s WAFU under 17 female tournament.
