The money provided by the SLFA is part of the FIFA Covid-19 relief support to over two hundred (200)member associations.

Paraphrasing the breakdown of the  One million three hundred thousand dollars to football members and journalists, the General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association Christopher Kamara said the decision to allocate the money was established from the football association executive council. He said ahead of the two lockdowns observed in the country the football association made available the amount of ten thousand dollars, to district football association each for the development of football in their district.

He revealed that for operation cost of five football regions the SLFA provides ten thousand dollars for the running of their district association.

"We extended the COVID- 19 solidarity support first  before FIFA released their planned,  fourteen premier league clubs received thirty million Leone each, five regional football association fifty million Leones, sixteen district football association twenty - five million Leone, national coaches association twenty million Leone, referees association twenty million Leones, retired football heroes twenty million Leones and sports journalists  fifty million Leones these where  funds the football association extended to the wider football community in the fight against  the coronavirus"

The General Secretary disclosed that in helping in the fight of the coronavirus SLFA  provided their office spaces to the NACOVAC which they as football body are very proud of.

Giving out his take about the two billion Leones given to the premier league board. The chairman of the league board Lawyer Alliue Vandi said he's delighted with such money provided by the Executive of the Sierra Leone Football Association and worth complimenting, and they are very cheerful about it.

Barrister Vandi disclosed that the money is huge and it going to take them along the way in running a successful league.

"Not that we don't need other funds or we are home and dry with this, last year when we ran the league it was back and forth to receive money from the football association which was around five hundred million leones"

Chairman Vandi whose first premier league was inconclusive revealed that with such amount of money available to them they can start the league running while they're working to get more sponsors for the league.

He said releasing date now for the commencement of the league would be tricky because they were not the ones that placed ban but the Ministry of Sport.

"We are mindful because we know COVID-19 is life and a threat. We are trying to engage the Ministry and the Football Association to find ways for restriction to be lifted"

Lawyer Vandi maintained that they can not come out with fixtures now which will amount to an affront in the part of the premier league board to government.

He assured football fans that they would engage the government and make the government understand the situation of the sporting sectors.

The 2019/20 Sierra Leone premier league ended inconclusively with no winner declared.

According to close sources, the premier league board generated over three hundred million Leones from the Orange premier league update services.
