SL-PLB to receive money on Monday

By Muctar Koroma.
The minister of sport Ibrahim Nyelenkeh Koroma has on radio mercury breakfast sport pronounced that the Salone Premier League board will receive over one billion seven hundred million leones from his office on 10  February 2020.  He said the money has been released from the Finances ministry and with him for delivery to the league board.

The minister revealed that the delay encountered in giving money earlier to this present board is due to procrastination from the previous board to present receipts to the Ministry of Finance on how money given to them was spent.

Since the 2019/20 Salone Premier League started the board has been finding it difficult to do their work due to lack of money.

According to reports at some point in the ongoing league the board had to put on hold bringing regional referees to officiate matches in Freetown.

Seventy-five million Leones was given to the fourteen Premier League clubs last year to start the league. The money was a  loan from the bank requested by the league board.

Some members of the league board media team have attributed the poor turnout of football fans to matches at the Siaka Stevens stadium to the delay in releasing funds from the government to do their work with ease.

Minister of sport Ibrahim  Nylenekeh declined on commenting if the government will be able to give the eight billion leones (8,0000,00000) budget presented by the Premier League board chairman lawyer Allieu Vandi Koroma.
