Mariam Samai is a renowned advocate, known for her enthusiasm in seeking the welfare of childdren. She develop school tours, radio talk shows to address children's issues. She's the President of Children's forum network Sierra Leone. She has delivered what is describe as the best and most "heart felt speech"in the field of advocacy. At the Bintumani 111 Peace and National Cohesion Conference in Sierra Leone. Mariam is an exceptional young leader. That we all should be proud of, at age 15 Mariam represented the children of Sierra Leone at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on the signing of the SDGs. Her speeches lead the European Union envoy to follow her to Sierra Leone to help the Sierra Leonean government in fighting Ebola.
This is not her first award, as an exceptional young girl in 2015 she won the best child advocate in Sierra Leone by the "kids advocacy network"
In her late senior years in school Mariam was nominated by BBC as one of the "Good girls around the world" a document series that documents the life of exceptional young girls in Africa.
In documenting her life she took the renowned Umaru Fofonah to her school the Annie Walsh Memorial School after her days work at school, Umaru had this to say: *"Watch for a girl called MARIAM SAMAI who's talking to them about teenage pregnancy. Amazing, A real breath of fresh air! How I wish other girls especially in the remote parts of Sierra leone could be this well taught."*
