Chinese Ambassador conduct Site visit on Sierra Leone National Stadium.
On October 9, 2018, the Chinese Ambassador Wu Peng, together with the Economic and Commercial Counsellor Zhang Xueqian, paid a visit to Sierra Leone National Stadium to inspect the National Stadium Reinforcement Project. The project was funded from the Chinese government grant.
During the visit Ambassador Wu Peng said the National Stadium is a landmark project supported by the Chinese government in the 1970s and acts as a symbol of China-Sierra Leone friendship.
The rehabilitation of the stadium will greatly improve the conditions of public activities in Sierra Leone and serve the exercise needs of Freetown.
“The construction company should not only pay close attention to the quality of the project and safety in construction, but should also take care of legitimate rights and interests of the local employees while pushy to complete the project on time”. Said Peng
Speaking to this medium the stadium manager Musa Sesay, said the project is progressing smoothly and the overall progress is in line with expectations.
Ambassador Wu Peng made a detailed research on the construction procedures and related technical issues.
The manager, thanked Ambassador Wu Peng for visiting the project site.
He extended genuine appreciation to China for its long-term efforts in building and rehabilitating the National Stadium.
“We stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side on maintenance of the stadium”.
The rehabilitation of the national stadium started in 2017. The purpose of the rehabilitation is to to give the national stadium a face lift as citizens have raising concerned over it deplorable condition.
The rehabilitation work is not only on the stadium but the hostel also.
