The Central One Football Association Chairman Sama Sesay has Confirmed 26th August, 2018 as the date for the super inter area communities League final at the Parade grounds in Freetown, Sierra Leone.


Shell community and Fourah Bay community are the two giant communities to grace this year final at the Parade field in the western area of Freetown. Due to security concern the central one football association for the past two year has been playing their final at the national stadium in Freetown. But due to the rehabilitation of the national stadium the central one football association has decided to host the final in the central part of Freetown.

Confirming the date of the final the   Chairman of the central one football association Sama Sesay said in a meeting held with the communities they were able to agree that the final played on the last Sunday of August. He said due to the face-lift work at the national stadium the Central one football association and the two communities decided to play the finals at the parade grounds, central of Freetown.

Chairman Sama Sesay said this year’s COFA league competition has been an exciting one as the normal big communities like Mountain City, Foulah Tong, Bambara Tong and the likes have all exited the competition.

“We were able to run one of the most peaceful communities’ competition this year because of the cooperation of the 48 communities who participated in the competition”.

This Year’s finale according to Chairman Sama Sesay will have a third place play off scheduled to take place on the 24th August and the finals will take place on the 26th August.

“He called on Fans of both communities to storm the parade grounds peacefully to support their respective teams for third and final positions respectively”.

Shell Community will be taking on Fourah Bay community in the finals of the COFA super inter area competition and the grand prize for this year  winner will be Fifty Million Leones and there would also be consolation  prizes for the first  runner up, third and fourth place teams  will be compensated as well.

Sierra Leone head Coach names 25 foreign-based players.

Lack of home football league in Sierra Leone, has not stopped the head coach of Leone Stars John Keister, from including 10 home-based talents in his 35 man provisional squad, ahead of the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) fixtures with Ethiopia, Ghana and Kenya. Sierra Leone won her first AFCON match against Kenya in Freetown, which was a big boost to kick-start the tight fixtures in September and October. Leone Stars head Coach John Kiester names 23 Man Squad for the AFCON qualifier against the 'Walyas' of Ethiopia

After naming a preliminary Squad of 35 Players the Head Coach of Leone Stars John Keister has cut the squad down to Twenty three (23) players ahead of the crucial Match against the ‘Walyas’. Despite no effective league playing in the country, there were places in the squad for young FC Johansen Goalkeeper Mohamed N Kamara, and defender Abu Suma former player for FC Johansen.
