SLFA President Madam Isha Johansen has welcomed the Secretary General of the West Africa Football Union to Sierra Leone

SLFA president Madam Isha Johansen has welcomed the Secretary General of the West Africa Football Union to Sierra Leone.

Receiving the Secretary General of the West Africa football union Jammeh Bojang, the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Madam Isha Johansen said the under-17 female tournament will be a global showcase for Sierra Leone in Africa and the world at large. She said Sierra Leone as a country is well prepared to show Africa that the country is now opened to the world in terms of football.

Isha Johansen who is the head of female football in Africa and Executive committee member of the Confederation of Africa Football CAF, said her executive and the government of President Julius Madaa Bio are committed and working tirelessly to put up a great female football show for West African nations coming to Sierra Leone to witness  the tournament.

“It has always been my  dream to put Sierra Leone at the top in terms of  bringing goodies to the country, I call on football Administrators, Coaches, Supporters and  everyone to embrace this opportunity given to Sierra Leone to host the first West Africa female U-17 competition.” Johansen noted.

The WAFU Secretary General  Jammeh Bojang in his opening statement  congratulated SLFA president and emphasized that Sierra Leone has no other option but to make this first WAFU female U-17 tournament a success so that Sierra Leone will be considered for subsequent tournament.

The WAFU Secretary General during his visit to Sierra Leone would take a conducted tour to Freetown, Bo, Makeni, and Kono to assess the four venues, hospitals, roads, stadiums, and accommodation facilities for the first WAFU Female U-17 football competition to be hosted in Sierra Leone.

Part of Madam Isha Johansen's campaign message for the Sierra Leone Football Association presidency was to rebrand football in Sierra Leone and compete with bigger nations in Africa in order to bring honour to the country.

The SLFA president has succeeded in bringing so many good initiative into Sierra Leone football and Africa as a whole, these include; Africa international youth Tournament (AIYT), Thinking pink, and Power play which confederation of Africa Football and FIFA has overwhelming  supported.

Football Pundits in the Country are saying Madam Isha Johansen's  success in bring the tournament to Sierra Leone is the biggest international football competition ever to be hosted in the country, it’s a huge win for Sierra Leone and added accolade to the iron lady of Sierra Leone football - Isha Johansen

New PL board release league date

By Muctar Koroma On Friday 15th November, 2019 in a meeting held at the football association Secretariat the new premier league board has  announced the date of 4th December ,2019  for the start of the new season.  All 14  PL clubs received  ten balls from the board. The league will  be preceded by a curtain raiser between champions East End Lions and league runners-up FC Kallon, in a match billed on the model of the English premier league.  The newly appointed  premier league board chairman is lawyer Alliue Vandi and the only female in the  board is  Barrister  and renowned radio broadcaster Nicky Spencer Coker.   Fourteen teams  from across the Country will participate in this season's premier competition.  BO Rangers, the big money spenders have continued their spending and rebuilding process.
