Leone Stars head Coach John Kiester names 23 Man Squad for the AFCON qualifier against the 'Walyas' of Ethiopia

After naming a preliminary Squad of 35 Players the Head Coach of Leone Stars John Keister has cut the squad down to Twenty three (23) players ahead of the crucial Match against the ‘Walyas’.

Despite no effective league playing in the country, there were places in the squad for young FC Johansen Goalkeeper Mohamed N Kamara, and defender Abu Suma former player for FC Johansen.

UK trio based Alhaji Sesay who plays for Bristol City in England, Osman Kakay of Queens Park Rangers and Amadou Bakayoko of Coventry City were also named in the squad alongside long time absentee Sheka Fofanah who plays his international football for Al Nasr in the Oman professional elite league.
The 23 Man Squad is as follows.

Veteran Goalkepper John Trye, Khalifa Jabbie, Kemson Fofanah,George Davies, and Alhaji Kamara who plays for Sheriff FC in Moldova have all been left out of the 23 Man Squad for the match against Ethopia. Leone Stars will be taking on the ‘black stars’ of Ghana on the 10th October and will play the return leg in Freetown four days later.

Coach John Keister stated that there is every possibility for players who didn’t make it for the Match against ‘the Walyas’ to feature in the Match against the Ghana Black Stars.

He spoke of the competitive spirit in the Squad and said all the 35 players in his preliminary Squad have an opportunity to play a part in the subsequent AFCON qualifiers for Cameroon 2019
