50 Sierra Leonean Referees Complete Micro Gate Technology Training
Fifty Sierra Leonean referees have completed a two-day training using micro gate, which is the standard technical equipment required for referees trainings.
The training was organized by the Western Area Referee Association (WARA) at the national stadium in Freetown, with the aim to teach the referees and abreast them with new laws and goal line technology recently introduced to help reduce mistakes inadvertently or otherwise caused by referees across the world.

The local instructor of WARA, Anabi Yusuf Kamara said the training was organized to aufait the referees with modern technology for best practice, adding that the training is also in line with the world football governing body (FIFA) transformational Statues.
"We are part of the globe and therefore all the best practices governing football should be understood and fully adhered to by our referees," Anabi told journalists.

He said training of this nature keeps the referees mentally alert and physically active on the pitch.
"From a letter we received from FIFA, they have the mandate to look after referees, monitor their activities on a monthly basis with both physical and technical fitness," the Instructor emphasized.
He said the previous training they had captured 8 to 10 meters distance to keep the assistant referees physically fit and active.
According to him, the assistant referees teamed up with the central referees for a 30 meters race. That exercise didn't only unite them but strengthened their bond.
He revealed that FIFA requested that they should have Referees Instructor who will be conducting trainings for referees nationwide. That, he said was promptly complied with and report sent to FIFA.

Anabi said, "one of the essential reasons for conducting such training was to teach referees new laws of the game as FIFA has introduced new laws to make the game unique and alive."
The participating referees thanked the executive of the WAFA for providing them such opportunity. They described the ceremony as "a well-organized one" dealing with the physical aspects of refereeing. They assured that they will judiciously use the knowledge acquired for the growth of Sports in the country.
